Background

With the acceleration of information dissemination and the rise of new social media platforms, the credibility and accuracy of information sources often carry significant risks. To effectively combat the spread of misinformation, the Executive Yuan introduced the "Misinformation Prevention Project" in December 2018. In 2019, the Ministry of Education set the goals of "enhancing civic literacy" and "developing independent judgment skills" as part of its policy initiatives.

Objectives

In 2020, the "Higher Education Media Literacy Curriculum Development Project" was launched to promote media literacy courses in universities and colleges. The project aims to establish regional resource centers, create a media literacy teaching support system, and facilitate resource sharing. Key initiatives include developing reference modules for media literacy teaching materials, training seed teachers, and fostering professional learning communities for educators. The project continuously refines its implementation strategies to align with policy goals.
