Internet Volume and New Media Research Center

Purpose

In recent years, with the rise of Internet technology, many opinion leaders and netizens have enthusiastically discussed issues of public policy and commercial brand investigations through Internet platforms. In addition to often driving mainstream news media to report on trends and strengths, they are also important to government agencies and general businesses. Perception has a huge impact. In order to understand the public opinion on the Internet and understand the trend of public opinion in real time, it has become the government department and the general public to observe the public opinion on the Internet, analyze the huge amount of data, predict the trend of the voice, and push the crisis warning on the policy issues and business brand awareness that the public is highly concerned about. An important reference for businesses to formulate external communication policies and crisis management and control.

In short, can government departments or ordinary businesses have a platform to monitor Internet public opinion before responding to the diversified changes in the Internet? It is possible to describe the online volume of public opinion on the Internet, grasp the opinion leaders, speech channels, and influence of important issues, so as to predict the future development of issues in real time, which has become the original design intention of Ming Chuan University's Internet Volume and New Media Center.
With this in mind, the center uses three big data engine technologies, KEYPO and Sol-Idea, through text mining and data mining technologies, to describe the Internet volume, topic trends, positive and negative comments, opinion leaders, and key issues of government departments or general businesses. Opinions, frequently used channels, etc., to collect and query public opinion on social networking sites on related issues at any time. After nearly three years of actual testing by our research team, the above three big data search engines have their own specialties. KEYPO is good at grasping issues macroscopically; Sol-Idea is strong in long-term monitoring of issues because it undertakes many government bids. The center will combine these two kinds of big data measurement, introduce important measurement tools for teaching, research and industry-university cooperation in the school, and construct the digital communication teaching characteristics of the school.

 

Target

This center is a new center developed by integrating radio and television in the important course of Communication Practice of the School of Communication, trying to help students find more trend changes in the new and old media. Therefore, the required resources, on the one hand, are integrated and used with other media in the institute, and actively develop the production capacity of the center to improve the performance of industry-university cooperation.
The establishment of the center hopes that through the combination of big data and new media, teachers and students of the School of Communication and Research Institutes will be able to cultivate the integrated application of data and new media in the field of communication, so as to complete the three-in-one activation of teaching functions, practice functions and industry-university functions. teaching, and then into the research function.
