Department of New Media and Communication Management

The Department of New Media and Communication Management of Ming Chuan University was formerly known as the Department of Digital Information Communication. In 1999, it was established in response to the digital convergence and the development of new information technology. Policy, merged with the Institute of Communication Management, renamed the Department of Communication Management. In 2015, in response to the general trend of the rapid development of new media in the communication industry, the department sought a comprehensive repositioning, integrating faculty from the fields of communication, management, and information, and changed its name to "Department of New Media and Communication Management" through a resolution. The Department of New Communication, referred to as the Department of Communication, is the first department in the Taiwan College of Communication to fully position itself as "new media" and to focus on the research and teaching of new media as its main development core.

Department of Audiovisual Journalism and Social Media Communication

The Journalism Department of Ming Chuan University was established in 1999 with the purpose of cultivating outstanding journalism talents. By combining theoretical and practical courses, it cultivates professional journalism and communication talents with a sense of responsibility, news editing and editing capabilities, and an international perspective. In response to the development and changes of the media industry, the Ministry of Education has approved the name change to the "Department of Audiovisual Journalism and Social Media Communication (AJSC)" starting from the 2023-2024 academic year. The department adopts a convergent and innovative model, combines the latest theories and practices, develops a complete journalism education and practical training that can directly connect with the industry, and integrates traditional media and new media for digital integration. The most distinctive courses of the department are the compulsory freshman "News Interview Writing" and "Content Production". Both of them are taught in small classes by full-time teachers with news theory or practical expertise and new media and experienced journalists. "Communication Practice" in the third year is another distinctive course. Students enter different media for internships according to their personal expertise and interests, and actually participate in practical work in print media, television, radio, advertising, public relations, Internet and new media. The student internship platform "Mingbao MOL" is a key platform for the Department to develop digital convergence and integrate new and old media, and provide training for future media integration planning talents. Senior graduation thesis/production is integrated into "curation" for graduates to publish and communicate with the industry. The internship mechanism and courses are directly in line with the new and old media in the industry, creating a good opportunity for students to "get a job after graduation".

Department of Radio and Television

The Department of Radio and Television of Ming Chuan University was established in 1999. Its educational purpose is to cultivate outstanding radio and television talents. Radio and television talents with research and development capabilities. Second, cultivate professionals in radio and television planning and production. Third, cultivate radio and television professionals with an international perspective. After the establishment of the Department, it adheres to the educational concept of "integrated communication" of the School of Communication. On the one hand, it recruits professional teachers in radio and television and related fields to provide students with excellent teaching quality; on the other hand, it fully strengthens the resource integration of the whole school. At the same time, it continues to build a complete and comprehensive teaching system of the department. In order to achieve the purpose and educational goals of the department, the department has established eight core competencies, including: the basic professional ability of integrated communication, the in-depth professional ability of radio and television, the extensive basic knowledge ability, the effective expression ability, and the teamwork ability , practical ability, thinking and problem-solving ability, international vision and foreign language ability.

Department of Advertising and Strategic Marketing

The Department of Advertising and Strategic Marketing of Ming Chuan University was formerly known as the Department of Advertising. The Department of Advertising was established in 1999 with the purpose of cultivating advertising and marketing talents with cross-field strategic thinking ability. The educational goals include the pursuit of excellence in teaching, the training of professionals in advertising and marketing communication, and the cultivation of students' international vision. In order to cultivate outstanding advertising and marketing communication talents in the future, the course structure takes advertising as the core and extends outward to five major areas. The relevant courses are designed from the perspectives of marketing, public relations, media, creativity, and consumer insight. The department emphasizes the teaching mode of "theory and practice", and through the concept of "learning by doing", the theory is implemented in practice. In addition, the department regularly organizes special lectures, dual-teacher teaching, seminars and actively leads students to participate in activities such as internal and external competitions and international competitions, providing students with a diverse learning environment and opportunities.

Omnimedia Production and Marketing Focused Course Program

In accordance with the Procedures for Establishing Cross-school, Cross-department, and Crossdisciplinary Degree and Course Programs, the School of Communication established the Omnimedia Production and Marketing Focused Course Program. This program might cultivate professionals with cross-disciplinary expertise in omnimedia production and marketing communication, focused on integrated media communication to extend our efforts into the application and presentation of omnimedia communication.  Students must complete 20 credit hours, among which, 9 are required courses and 11 are elective credits.

Brand Marketing Focused Course Program

The Advertising and Strategic Marketing Department of the School of Communication established the Brand Marketing Focused Course Program so that this program might cultivate brand marketing professionals. Students must complete 20 credit hours. Among them, at least 6 credits shall come from the outside of the departments of the student's major and minor. After the completed credits arereviewed by Advertising and Strategic Marketing Department and approved by the president, the certificate will be issued by the University.

Integrated Marketing Focused Course Program

The Advertising and Strategic Marketing Department of the School of Communication established the Integrated Marketing Focused Course Program so that this program might cultivate integrated marketing professionals. Students must complete at least 20 credit hours. Among them, at least 6 credits shall come from the outside of the departments of the student's major and minor. After the completed credits are reviewed by the Advertising and Strategic Marketing Department and approved by the president, the certificate will be issued by the University.

MicroFilm Focused Course Program

In order to cultivate the professionals of micro-film production, The Department of Radio and TV established the Micro-Film Focused Course Program. The students should finish at least 4 required courses and 6 elective courses, total 20 credits. After the completed credits are reviewed by the Radio and TV Department and approved by the president, the certificate will be issued by the University.
